The Recreation Program Specialist will plan, organize and coordinate a wide variety of parks and recreation programs, special interest programs, camps, sports and events. Oversees and manages the daily use of recreational facilities, focusing on the implementation and supervision of sports programs and leagues. The Program Specialist will also be responsible for strategic planning, developing, and coordinating community athletic, recreational, and special events catering to people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

An employee in this class, upon appointment, SHALL have the equivalent of the following training and experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a parks and recreation-related field.

• 6 months FT or 1-year PT experience in a parks and recreation setting.

• Knowledgeable of functions related to parks and recreation.

• 6 months of leadership experience is highly preferred.

• Experience working in the following organizations is highly preferred; civic, philanthropic, school clubs, sports clubs, or volunteerism.
