Pay Your Utility Bill
How to Pay Your Bill
Charges for water and sewer services are billed quarterly to Ferndale utility customers. All payments are due within twenty days of receipt of the bill. Below are the ways you can process payment:
ONLINE
Your online account is the best and easiest method for paying your water bill. The City is happy to offer new WaterSmart software, supporting the upgraded water meters installed in 2019-2020, that allows you to view water history, get real-time information about your water usage, manage your information via app, and more.
Mail your bill payment (via check or money order; please don't send cash through the mail) using the return envelope provided.
PHONE
Call the automated number at 866-873-9157 to pay your bill 24 hours a day, seven days a week using a credit or debit card.
IN-PERSON
Pay your bill in person at City Hall, 300 E. Nine Mile Rd., during regular business hours: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Or, drop your bill and payment into the 24-hour drop-box, located outside the front entrance of City Hall.
RECURRING PAYMENT PLAN
Set up a recurring payment that is automatically withdrawn from your checking or savings account each billing cycle.
DROP BOX
Drop box payments may be made by personal check, money order, or cashier's check. The drop box contents are removed prior to noon Monday through Friday. Please do not put cash in the drop box.
Payment Plan
In case of financial hardship, you can fill out the Water Payment Plan form to set up a payment plan. The City does not turn off water per City policy, however, a delinquent utility bill will incur fees and can be transferred to property taxes if a payment is not arranged. Utility Billing staff will work with you to help maintain your water service during periods of financial hardship, so please contact the Water Department for any questions or concerns.
