November 4, 2025, Election

The General Election is on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Voters will choose their candidate for Mayor and two City Council positions. There may also be local proposals on the ballot.

 

Vote by Mail (Absentee Ballot)

Any registered voter in Michigan may use Absentee Voting (AV) in any election; no “reason” is required. The easiest way to apply for your AV ballot is online through the Michigan Voter Information Center (MVIC), which becomes available 75 days before each election. When requesting an AV ballot, you will also be given the opportunity to register for the Permanent Absentee Ballot List or the Permanent Absentee Application List. You may also be added to this list by visiting the City Clerk's Office.

 

Vote Early In-Person

In-Person Early Voting begins two Saturdays before each election and ends the Sunday before the election. Voting runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on all days except Thursday which runs from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. Voting for all elections will take place at the Hazel Park Community Center, located at 620 West Woodward Heights Boulevard in Hazel Park, MI 48030, and the Waterford Oaks Activity Center, located at 2800 Watkins Lake Road in Waterford, MI 48328.

The precinct canvass of early votes for the City of Ferndale will occur at the Hazel Park Community Center (620 W. Woodward Heights Blvd., Hazel Park, MI 48030) at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

 

Vote In-Person on Election Day

All polling locations are open each Election Day from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Use the Precinct Map to locate your precinct. You can visit the Michigan Voter Information Center to confirm your precinct and polling location.

Important Dates

Monday, September 29

The City Clerk's Office will mail out absentee voter ballots to all who requested them by this date.

Monday, October 6

If you applied for a mail ballot and have not received it by this date, contact the City Clerk's Office.

Tuesday, October 21 (Through 8:00 p.m. on Election Day)

Beginning October 21, the only way to register to vote is in person at the City Clerk’s Office with proof of residency.

Saturday, October 25 to Sunday, November 2

In-person Early Voting is available for voters from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on all days except Thursday, October 30, which is available from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. In-person Early Voting for all elections will take place at the Hazel Park Community Center, located at 620 West Woodward Heights Boulevard in Hazel Park, MI 48030, and the Waterford Oaks Activity Center, located at 2800 Watkins Lake Road in Waterford, MI 48328.

Friday, October 31, by 5:00 p.m.

This is the deadline to request an absentee ballot be mailed to you.

Saturday, November 1

City Hall is open on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for voting purposes only.

Monday, November 3, by 4:00 p.m.

This is the deadline to request an absentee ballot in person if you aren’t already registered to vote.

Tuesday, November 4: Election Day

The polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Find your polling location at bit.ly/46wc4Pe. Absentee ballots must be received by 8:00 p.m.

 

Absent Voter Counting Board (AVCB)

The Absent Voter Counting Board (AVCB) for ballots received after 4:00 p.m. on November 3, 2025, will be located in the City Council Chamber at the Ferndale City Hall, 300 E. Nine Mile Rd., Ferndale, MI 48220. The AVCB will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Election Day, November 4, 2025, to process absent voter (AV) ballots. AV ballots received prior to 4:00 p.m. on November 3, 2024, will be processed by the Oakland County Absentee Voter Counting Board. Two election challengers are permitted at the Ferndale AVCB from each credentialed organization at any given time.

Register to Vote

To vote in Ferndale, you must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years old by Election Day, and a resident of Ferndale. You can register to vote:

  • Online at the Michigan Voter Information Center
  • In-person at Ferndale City Hall during regular operating hours
  • Dropbox: Print, fill out, and sign the Voter Registration Application and place it in the black drop box outside of City Hall. A drop box will also be available outside City Hall 75 days before each election, as well as a smaller drop box on the front counter on the second floor. Additionally, a new ballot box has been installed in The dot parking garage.
  • Mail: Print, fill out, and sign the Voter Registration Application and mail it to Ferndale Elections at 300 E. Nine Mile Rd. Ferndale, MI 48220.

Election Workers

Looking for a great way to get involved, meet new people, and earn some money? Become an election inspector!

Ferndale’s precincts, absentee voter counting boards, and recieving board are staffed by community members of differing political parties. These volunteers allow us to run efficient, secure, and transparent elections.

Compensation is $15.00 per hour for precinct inspectors and $17.00 an hour for chairs.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a registered voter in Michigan
  • Must declare political party affiliation on Election Inspector application
  • Must be able to attend a 2-3 hour training session the weekend before the election
  • Must be able to stay until all procedures are finished on election night
  • Moderate to advanced computer skills are highly desired
